These are principles that I use to guide me in how I conduct my business. These principals are based on over a decade of solid experience implementing IT Service Management solutions. This experience has taught me to rely on the following guiding principles:
People do not want quarter-inch drills. They want quarter-inch holes.
- Professor Emeritus Theodore Levitt, Harvard Business School
Prior to us working together, we will jointly establish a set of expected results and value to be delivered. This is the basis of our relationship. Checking boxes in a statement of work is counter-productive. The actual work performed or products implemented is not as important as what results you are getting.
I wouldn’t give a fig for simplicity on this side of complexity, but I would give my life for simplicity on the other side of complexity.
— Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr
Eliminate all non-essential elements to make room for what matters. This is hard work and takes practice. It is easy to add features and say yes to requests. Learning to eliminate the unnecessary focuses us on the important.
There are as many best practices as there are companies. I believe that the best solution is unique to you. I’m not saying that you have to reinvent the wheel here. Absolutely look to others for ideas. However, the final solution will always be unique to your environment. I am not obsessed with any particular methodology. ITIL, Lean, Six Sigma, Cobit, etc. are all useful methodologies to pull from. However, keep in mind that they, by themselves, are not the solution. Your solution may be a combination of all of these methods as well as insights specifically for your environment.
I strive to be open and transparent. The moment I see something alarming, I will raise the red flag. If your baby is ugly, it’s my job to tell you. There are no secrets with what I do and the way I work.
Whenever I engage with a new client, I make every attempt to become a partner with them. I cannot succeed if you do not succeed. We are in this together. I am proud of the fact that almost all of my previous clients hire me more than once, and some over the course of several years. This is a direct result of how I work. I do all that I can to help you succeed.
Simply “implementing” software will never be my measure for a successful project. The solution I deliver will always have tangible results that can be measured and evaluated. The software is a tool to accomplish something else. I have seen many organizations pat themselves on the back after they implement an Enterprise software solution, with no mention of the benefits. My first thought is, what did you get from it? Focus on the reason you are using software in the first place. That should be your measure of success.
Call me anytime. Some consultants will charge you every time you call them. Not me. I believe that this creates an awkward relationship. I want our relationship to be open so that you aren’t afraid to call me. I make an concerted effort to return all emails and phone calls promptly. Typically within 90 minutes.

Chris developed the first portion of a software implementation at Ameriquest Mortgage. The documentation Chris left behind was easy to follow and allowed me to enhance the implementation as new desires came from the project's stakeholders. Still after months of his departure I have went back to his document to prepare for the upgrades at Ameriquest.
Jon Unger, Ameriquest Mortgage
Chris is by far the best consultant that I have had the pleasure to work with in the IT Service Management arena. Chris is an expert with ServiceNow and IT Service Management principles. He provided many creative solutions to solve our business challenges. He customized an HR, Consumer Affairs and Flight application for us. I did not have much experience with ServiceNow but I have learned a lot from Chris and he has been amazingly patient. Chris' code of ethics are very admirable. I am more knowledgeable and a better person for working with Chris.
